At Kingston Primary School we enjoy teaching and learning in beautifully landscaped grounds, including a fantastic school garden that we run with generous sponsorship from MONA and accredited within the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden model. Our 24 Carrot Garden establishes the gold standard of school kitchen gardens partnered with fun, learning activities in the Creative Arts, Culinary Arts, Science and Sustainability. The whole MONA 24 Carrot Garden concept started at Kingston Primary School in late 2014. MONA’s Kirsha Kaechele, co-founder and Director of 24 Carrot Gardens, met a dedicated parent working with students during lunchtime on the fringes of the school oval and so the 24 Carrot Garden initiative was born.
Whilst MONA’s proximity to Kingston Primary School is a 30-minute drive, this has not stopped strong connections between the school and this fantastic establishment being developed. With the support of the dedicated MONA crew, Kingston Primary is lucky enough to be kept up to date with the latest projects and resources continuing to provide our students with endless learning opportunities.
In 2025 our Garden and Kitchen Specialists Jade Primrose and Thibaut Favier work across the school every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday providing amazing, quirky and real-life student enterprise opportunities which link our garden produce, kitchens and to classroom learning. We are absolutely delighted that our long-awaited outdoor Kitchen Garden project has officially received the green light and construction is set to begin very soon! This exciting initiative, which will include an Outdoor Kitchen, Classroom, Greenhouse and additional garden beds, will be an incredible asset to our School Community. This project will not only expand our existing 24 Carrot Garden but also provide a dynamic Outdoor Learning Space where students can engage in hands-on activities, learn about food production from seed to plate, and develop essential life skills. It will undoubtedly strengthen the connection between Kingston Primary and the wider Kingston Community, fostering a deeper understanding of healthy eating and sustainable practices. We are incredibly grateful for the support that has made this fantastic project possible.
